SONDOS SHABAYEK

Sondos Shabayek is an Egyptian filmmaker, acting coach, Certified Intimacy Coordinator and certified Mental Health Coordinator based in Berlin. She holds an MA in Directing from Met Film School Berlin and received the 2021 Voices That Matter scholarship (Women in Screen Industries). With over 16 years of experience across theatre and film, she has worked with actors and non-actors, facilitated storytelling workshops, documented personal narratives, and directed performances centered on women’s and gender-based stories. In 2022, she was selected for the Safe Sets Intimacy Coordinator Training Program (funded by Netflix). Between others, she served as intimacy coordinator on the German TV series DIE ZWEIFLERS und DOPPELHAUSHÄLFTE. In 2025, she completed the professional Mental Health Coordinator program created by the Association of Mental Health Coordinators and received certification. Her filmmaking focuses on nuanced portrayals of women’s lives, challenging the legacy of the male gaze and advocating for greater authenticity, including in the Arab region. Her latest short, Sousou’s TikTok, is a 10-minute dark comedy exposing domestic violence.
